Business (Undergraduate) Positions
Technical Positions
Expedia is the world’s largest online travel company. What does that mean? We’re a small company with a global reach and lots of opportunities. We love smart people who have a passion for technology and its ability to change and drive business. Expedia offers the opportunity to design the career you want. So go for it. Choose your adventure.
Technical roles at Expedia typically fall into the roles below and are offered as both internships and full-time new graduate opportunities. Note that specific opportunities vary each year (and by location), so be sure to check out our latest job opportunities.
Program Manager: Intern or New Grad
We like to call our Program Managers the “Vision Masters” of our development teams. As a Program Manager (intern or full-time employee) you’ll be part of a team that is responsible for defining and driving the features that make Expedia the industry leader that it is. Help us define detailed functional requirements, work with developers and testers during implementation, get features released to the live site on schedule, and resolve problems on the live site. Specific requirements and details are available via our job postings, but in general we’ll expect you to have project management experience, great communication skills, and experience working cross functionally with other teams. Technical expertise and knowledge of C/C++, ASP, HTML, DHTML, SQL, JavaScript, and browser technology is always a plus too.
Software Design Engineer: Intern or New Grad
Dubbed the “Code Guru” of the product development team, the Software Design Engineer is the master assimilator of technologies. In this role you’ll help design and implement server software that powers Expedia, Inc.’s interactive travel web products. This server architecture forms the backbone of our product in connection with customers and other central reservations systems around the world. As the “Code Guru” name implies, this role requires a solid technical background. Experience developing client/server applications in C++ on Windows Platform and knowledge of other technologies (ASP, HTML, DHTML, SQL, and JavaScript) is preferred.
Software Design Engineer – Test: Intern or New Grad
Do you like to build things, or break things? If you’re the type of person that loves taking things apart, then the Software Design Engineer – Test, or the “Bug Exorcist” role, may be the position for you. Expedia has created a world-class architecture to power large volumes of users in a real-time 24x7 environment. We need you to build the testing tools and technologies to ensure the best experience for our customers. In this role you’ll typically be responsible for the automation of tools and ensuring code quality by working closely with developers. The majority of our testing is web based, so we are looking for candidates who possess testing experience with front end, backend, and automation skills, as well as strong SQL ability, scripting (JavaScript and/or VBScript) and coding experience (C# or C++ and PERL).
Business (Undergraduate) Positions—Partner Services Group
Have an interest in travel but looking for an internship that isn’t technology focused? Consider joining Expedia’s Partner Services Group. This global supply team is responsible for connecting travel suppliers to the largest travel marketplace through the Expedia, Inc. family of retail brands and affiliates. The Partner Services Group is comprised of lodging, air, transport and destination services professionals who are passionate about innovating, collaborating, and truly making an impact at Expedia, Inc.
Market Manager is the primary role available for interns and new graduates in the Partner Services Group. Specific opportunities vary each year and by location (think global opportunities here), so be sure to check out our latest job opportunities.
Market Manager Intern – Partner Services Group
Ambitious? Like challenges? Interested in a unique internship? Market Manager Interns will work alongside experienced Expedia professionals in an assigned market and have the chance to get experience delivering strategies to grow revenue in a specific market. This is a great opportunity to help deliver the right products for Expedia’s customers and actually drive revenue for Expedia’s businesses. For this role you’ll need working knowledge of revenue / account management, as well as a background in Hospitality / Hotel Management (or a related field). Check out our job postings for more information on this role and potential locations.
Market Manager (New Grad) – Partner Services Group
The full-time Market Manager role is similar to the internship, except that you alone will manage the client relationships and strategies for your market. As a Market Manager full-time employee, you’ll be responsible for building revenue growth and developing and sustaining strong hotel partner relationships within assigned markets. This includes negotiating favorable inventory rates and allocations at the property level and driving key activities that support Expedia’s revenue goals and strategic objectives. We’re looking for people who love negotiating and building relationships and have a degree in Hospitality / Hotel Management. Revenue management skills are a big plus too.
